The problem:

Elected officials using their public positions for personal wealth.

 

The solution:

Putting common-sense insider trading bans directly on the ballot.

Send a message to the federal government and ensure that our local government is a model for ethical leadership and accountability.

 

NEPA folks, we’re used to corruption — we’ve literally seen it all. But Rob Bresnahan being labeled as the "top day trader" in Congress, making over $14 million off over 600 stock trades in less than 18 months, is shocking even to us. 

 

He’s not alone. Senator John Fetterman, Senator Dave McCormick, and Congressman Dan Meuser are ALL part of the problem. 

 

The process:

Placing a question directly on the ballot and putting it in the hands of the voters in Luzerne & Lackawanna counties.

 

How does it work? 

 

• Luzerne and Lackawanna Counties are both home rule counties. That means voters in those counties can go through a ballot initiative process to place a question on the ballot to make amendments to the Home Rule charter. 

• To make that happen, signatures need to be collected from registered voters in each county. The number of signatures is determined by the number of total votes in the most recent gubernatorial election (in this case, 2022). 

• To get on the November ballot, that means we need: 

  • 11,650 signatures in Luzerne County

  • 8,900 signatures in Lackawanna County 

• Signatures can be collected from any registered voter regardless of party affiliation between June 16, 2026 - August 4, 2026. 

• Once signatures are collected and the ballot language is approved by the county boards of election, we work hard together to encourage voters to VOTE YES to BAN INSIDER TRADING!
